SAGA CHARITABLE TRUST

Mission & Vision

SAGA Charitable Trust was formed in 2007 with a mission is to enhance awareness on life saving skills and train every individual in the community to act appropriately during medical emergencies. We aim to create more ‘social doctors’ in the community who could provide supportive care during emergencies until professional help from a healthcare team is available.

Many a saga has been written to document the lives of specific people or whole communities. Sagas chronicle the legendary lives of the famous Vikings and talk about their various heroic deeds. In these sagas there was high praise for heroism in a world which was pagan. However, the sentiments which were expressed were purely humanitarian.

Today, life is fast and life is short. Though the deeds that are done may not be chronicled in a saga, the heights of heroism can easily be reached simply with a humanitarian heart. Life is precious. Everything should be done not only to save it but to also preserve it.

Program

SAGA Foundation (Charitable trust) presents the Save A Life, Give A Life program (SAGA Life) which will give an opportunity to ensure that a SAGA can be created out of each life present in today’s world.

We offer a program for the public (approximately 2-3 hours) which has two parts. The first part will educate people on how best they can help to save a life by learning the essentials of basic life support and first aid. This will instill in each and every individual who undergoes this training the skills needed to act in an emergency situation, both in their homes and outside. In making an effort to attend on casualties before they deteriorate, we can look forward to a healthier society.

The second part will enlighten the participant about organ donation, the closest a person can come to giving life to another individual. We aim to dispel the doubts the society has about organ donation along with clarifying all the myths circulating around. Giving birth to individuals has for long been considered a way of giving the gift of life. Organ donation transcends that and goes far beyond it by giving gifts of life to persons unconnected by caste, creed, or cult.

Robert Frost wrote:

‘Two roads diverged in a wood, and I –
I took the one less traveled by,
And that made all the difference’

We at SAGA Foundation have started going on the road not at all traveled by any one. We are aiming to make a difference in the field of medical education and also want to make a difference to our society by enriching and empowering individuals with the knowledge that will help them save lives and give lives.
