Training Lives To Save Lives

Technology has enabled the medical community to learn in a sheltered and protected environment where we could get ‘as close to reality’. Simulation models are replacing real patients.

Is this available In India?

The first simulation model Sim-Man™ has arrived in India at The Academy for Clinical Training (TACT) in Chennai.

What is special about TACT?
TACT provides a high technology environment but more important ensures that the training groups are small to promote informal and interactive hands-on training. TACT houses Sim-Man™, which is an advanced patient simulator with realistic anatomy and clinical functionality. Sim-Man™ could be programmed to breath, having changing heart rhythms, allows you to put a real IV, tubes to feed and guess what Sim-Man™ can be changed to a Woman and we could even train how to conduct delivery !. And what’s more the scenario can be modified from the control room based on the level of competence of the trainee.

What are the training courses and who are all trained here?
TACT offers courses throughout the year for a variety of healthcare professionals including medical students, post graduate trainees, practicing doctors, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, dieticians, physiotherapists and technicians. Courses vary in duration from few hours to many days.

We also have educational courses targeted at non-healthcare professionals who required basic life support training for their job. We are also committed to providing essential knowledge to the public to identify emergencies and act without delay. This programme , which is currently offered in English and Tamil is called “SAGA” (Save a Life, Give a Life) . By ‘Training lives’ we aim to carry on the tradition of saving lives’. – The Academy for Clinical Training (TACT) 4202 6644 / 2621 8228
