Course Objectives:
On completion of the course, the participants will be able
- to understand the basic principles of Infection Control,
- understand the importance and correct technique of hand washing,
- Identify personal protective equipments and recognize its effectiveness against blood borne pathogens,
- understand the CDC isolation system for patient care,
- identify strategies to prevent the transmission of Hepatitis and HIV,understand the modes of transmission,
- signs and symptoms of HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C,
- be aware of appropriate methods necessary to assure sterilization of instruments and equipments in the hospital,
- Bio-Medical waste management,
- Understand the nurses’ role in infection control practices.
- have hands on practice to be able to don, remove and dispose the personal protective equipment correctly.
