Course Objectives:

On completion of the course, the participants will be able

  • to understand the basic principles of Infection Control,
  • understand the importance and correct technique of hand washing,
  • Identify personal protective equipments and recognize its effectiveness against blood borne pathogens,
  • understand the CDC isolation system for patient care,
  • identify strategies to prevent the transmission of Hepatitis and HIV,understand the modes of transmission,
  • signs and symptoms of HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C,
  • be aware of appropriate methods necessary to assure sterilization of instruments and equipments in the hospital,
  • Bio-Medical waste management,
  • Understand the nurses’ role in infection control practices.
  • have hands on practice to be able to don, remove and dispose the personal protective equipment correctly.
