Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • have theoretical knowledge necessary to care for the patients with central lines and arterial lines
  • understand the importance of correct site selection for cannulation
  • choose the most appropriate device for cannulation and know the different types,
  • Insertion of Central line using the Seldinger Technique.
  • safely prepare the patient and site.
  • Appreciate the importance of personnel protective equipment and follow aseptic technique during insertion
    and removal.
  • Aware of the complications of the cannulation and know how to minimize the risk of complications for patients.

There will be a video demonstration and hands on practice in putting central line and arterial puncture on a manikin that will help them in achieving their competency in central line insertion and care.
