He is well respected as a clinician and teacher and has authored original publications in journals of repute.He subsequently trained in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine in the United Kingdom & Is a Member of Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), United Kingdom.

He is also a Fellow of American College of Physicians (FACP & American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP). He was an Assistant Professor in the prestigious Department of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, which prides itself with the largest multidisciplinary critical care training program in the world. He is currently a consultant in Critical Care Medicine & Academic Coordinator for Department of Critical Care Medicine at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai. Dr. Ramesh Venkataraman has completed a post-doctoral certification in clinical education and has a special interest in simulation-based education. He has several original publications including a few on the applications and value of simulation-based education. He has also authored book chapters and editorials.
